How hard is it to replace the brakes or what stops the riding mower when you press the clutch brake? The one seems to roll passed the brakes as if there isnt any from when it was purchased new and would directly stop. Murray 425008x
I think your Murray number shown is off slightly.
Locate the tiny brake disc on the right or left side of the hydrostatic unit at the rear. There is a center locking nut that can be tightened about a 1/4 turn. See if that improves the lack of brakes/parking brake.
If it does not the brake pads may be too worn.

Do you have a photo on where to adjust this at the parts guide shows two L brackets with the pads made to them. As its a 2004 model mower that gets used 3-4 times a year for maybe 1.5 hours to cut the yard its still in great shape.I think your Murray number shown is off slightly.
