What is the preferred method / materials to effectively clean an old mower up. As is in cleaning the gunk of the engine, and such. I am trying to salvage my BIL (passed away last april) craftsman mower and want to clean it up. Any help will be appreciated.

I start out with an air hose to blow off the chunks then move on to Simple Green. Don't let straight simple green sit on the paint too long because it might discolor it or make it dull.

I've used both Simple Green and Purple Stuff, they both work well.

I remove the top cover, and flywheel bag the carb, and pressure wash the block every year. I take the air gun, and blow all the water out, and the under side of the flywheel.
