Two weeks after getting the belt problem fixed, now it won't start. Thoughts?

Engines need spark, fuel, and air to run.
Check your spark plugs. Are they wet with gas? Do they spark?
Is it getting fuel to the carburetor?
Is the air filter clean and dry?
Is the choke linkage hooked to the throttle cable?

tight and clean cable connections at battery and check battery voltage at the starter while cranking if you can.... But being a kohler, bendix problems are fairly common.

Hello sano888,

Most likely, the starter Bendix gear has split in half or sheared the teeth off of it. I recently repaired Kohler 22 HP on my zero turn did this and made a similar noise.

The top fan shroud needs to be removed to watch the starter gear try to engage the flywheel teeth. Hopefully the flywheel has not sheared out the ring gear teeth. That is rare, but it does happen.

Let us know what you find.

According to the model no. it has a shift type solenoid and the solenoid has gone bad. Or the ring gear has some missing teeth.
