Hello again. To be honest I have to say that I am enjoying my 2001 SST18 although it being the first year of production for the SST series, it definitely has its issues, that I'm sure John Deere has worked out with the newer models. Now my issue is that when I first acquired the mower it started up fine and dandy and ran like it should.... However after a few times of operation, it stopped turning over by the key. Could jump the silenoid and it would run fine. At times I was able to press in the brake and it would turn over but it took forever to find the sweet spot. So I replaced the silenoid and it still will not turn over. I've wired up a push button on the silenoid to start it. Turn key to run position and push button, fires right up. But the battery charging light comes on and my battery goes dead after about 3 or 4 starts. Any help would be appreciated on what I have to do to get charging back. And if any suggestions on why it won't turn over by the key.
