Chainsaw

I saw a chainsaw on sale for $259.00 for a Sthil. How good of a deal is that? Is it a deal or am I just thinking it is a deal and it is not one? I have never bought a new saw, I appreciate any feedback.

That depends on the size and model - get the model from the ad and then do a search for that model and see if you find any prices. I use Dogpile for a search engine Dogpile Web Search it searches multiple search engines.

I must agree. I think that sounds about right. I mean, you're in the ball park. But, if the model is too cheap then that could be too expensive.

'Cheap is expensive', or so does the old adage goes. You can be able to make a thoughtful decision after studying the chain saw's reviews time and again.

Go for it after you are certain it is good value for your money.

STIHL Canada - Products

It was this one, you will notice that the website doesn't have prices, you have to contact a dealer to find out the price. It figures.

If it is really a 260 and it is for sale at a Price of 259 US$, there is something wrong with it.

For 259 $ You may will get a 170, but never a 260. For a 170 itï½´s quiet the normal price, nothing special.

Saws in general are a bit cheaper in the US then in Germany

Sounds pretty good for a Stihl chainsaw.......they are very good as contractors use them in Australia, they are reliable and have good Dealers.......so yes buy it.

That is a good price for an MS260. New Stihl saws are sold only through Stihl dealers in the US as far as I know. So I'd be a bit cautious if it's not a dealer. You don't want to deal in stolen goods.

As far as the brand goes, I've got two Stihl chainsaws and am in the market for a pole saw. It's a very fine brand.

If you buy something at a low price........check to see the original invoice..........no invoice could mean it is stolen property...........you can be charged with 'Receiving'........which is the same penalty as stealing..........so Beware........or suffer the consequences!:ashamed:

Are you sure it wasn't on Ebay? Stihl is a good brand, so I would say that was a pretty good deal. I am sure they are gone by now!

I have stated it and I will write it again: A Stihl MS 260 for 259 $ is impossible.

It was at the dealer here where I live, they are certified Stihl dealers. I went to check it out today and decided to pick it up, it was a fall sale, 50% off so that worked for me, I love a good sale.

Ecellent! Well done Bruce! You scored a bargain! That is money well spent. Just be sure and read the owners manual and use the saftey gear. Chainsaws are dangerous.

I agree. I think I did well for once, lol. I hope this one lasts a while. I am quite happy with my find and the wife is happy it didn't break the bank. I even scored "brownie points" for being frugal, lol.

I hope this one lasts a while. .
I don't know what your going to use it for or how old you are, but that chainsaw would last me the rest of my life.
Stihl is agruably the best saw out there, I own a husquvarna personnally, but stihl is held in high regard by those who know.
If you keep it maintained (clean and lubricated), don't leave gas in it, it will be with you for a long time.
