My 32 year old lawn tractor finally blew up and I am replacing the 12.5 hp Briggs that had no voltage regulator with a 28P777 0641 A1 14 hp Briggs that has a voltage regulator.
1) Do I simply hook the red wire on the regulator to power off the switch? It is a 2 wire voltage regulator if it makes a difference
2) I need the configuration for the fuel lines off the engine mounted fuel pump with 3 outlets on it as well
3) how is the fuel solenoid wired? Is it white (or grey?)to power and black to ground?

If you can point me towards a service manual or post the diagrams, I would appreciate it.

Thank you

Finally getting in.

According to the IPL you probably have the tri circuit stator so the voltage regulator only has an in and an out wires. The out is usually connected to the battery side of the starter solenoid.

The fuel if mounted should already have the impulse hose connected. Out is usually on the left and in is on the right; although this be reversed depending how the pump is mounted. NO big deal either as it pumps fuel or not.

The fuel solenoid is usually gray and black. Black is engine ground and the gray is connect to the switched 12v circuit of the ignition switch which your old harness connector should have be wired.

Perfect - thank you so much - I did verify the pump hoses were routed properly and pumped fuel (nice volume)
I’ll terminate the wires and get busy cutting - thank you again.
(It has become kind of a game to see how long I could keep this old girl running - the deck is getting a little tattered, but still in decent shape.)
I appreciate your wisdom and knowledge
