I have a Craftsman push mower with a Briggss & Stratton 550 series, silver edition 158CC that is running rich. Or at least it was last summer when last used. At the time it would start easily but constantly run roughly (rmp up and down). When winterizing it I discovered the plug was fouled (oily) and the exhaust filter was also black and oily. I guess it is running rich. I looked for carb adjustment screws but could not locate any. I recorded the following information from the engine:
model.........10T802
type...........1238B1
code...........09020955
build date....02/09
s/n.............0902095442784
I assume the fix is reasonably simple if one has some direction. This forum has been an excellent resource for me in the past. Please Help!
Thanks!

Just go by a mower shop with the model number, and get the diaphragm kit for it, dis-assemble, clean and re-assemble the carb, very easy to do on this model.

Yeah, it is a pretty easy rebuild. There is a screen sleeve on the column, pull it off and clean it and the column too, just don't go crazy with compressed air. You might
take pics as you go, so it goes back together the same way.
