briggs quiet starting problem

Hey guys, I'm workin ona yard machines with a 14.5hp Briggs ohv single cylinder motor.....when I put my jumper/starter on the battery and try to start it the starter does nothing....I'm pretty good with motors and electrical wiring etc,but this ones got me stumped.....I even put jumper cables on battery and starter bolt to bypass safetys and such but still nothing any ideas? I havent looked at it much cause I haven't had much time lately....thanx, I'm new to this forum.

Remove the starter and check it out... It seems you have found that there is an open in it... Perhaps the brushes...? :smile:KennyV

If you applied 12volts directly to the stud on the starter ... and got nothing, no spark, just nothing... it has to be open. :smile:KennyV

Ok but wat do u mean by "something"??

It most likely won't be the copper post on the outside but, could easily be where that post continues inside the starter. :smile:KennyV
