I have a 3.5HP Briggs that has a 499952 carburetor on it. The carburetor is damage and I am planning on replacing it with an aftermarket one. I have used these before and have not had any issues. The carburetor I ordered won't be here until the end of March. I found another carburetor 499953 that is used on the same model of engine 91202 but with different type and date code ranges, I can get this carburetor in two days. Both carburetors are for 3 quart fuel tanks but I cannot find any information on the differences between them, does anyone know what the differences are or where I might be able to find this info. I suspect that a port may be sized differently between the two but dont know for sure.

From the briggs diagrams you have to pay close attention. the 499952 is for the 2 quart tank which uses a 4-1/4 inch pickup tube. the 499953 is for the 3 quart tank which uses a 4-7/8 inch pickup tube, The difference is in the length of the pickup tube.
