hi could anyone tell me if the 16 hp and 18 hp opposed twins cylinder heads are interchangeable? i heard the difference in horsepower is the bore....i have a 18hp opposed twin and have to replace the head...got one on the internet and it was for a newer engine..mine is a 1982..i found one that is from a 16hp around the same vintage as my motor and it looks identical to the 18hp i have...thanks

Yes and the difference in hp, 16 - 18, is the stroke not the bore.

For your own satisfaction, go here http://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Briggs-&-Stratton-Parts-Manuals-IPL/ pick the model numbers for both engines and compare the part numbers.
