Briggs and Stratton 092502-3140-02 atop a Sycamore mower

I picked up this lawnmower, with a nicely-running Briggs on top, and discovered a problem underneath with how the shaft connects to the blade.

I don't know what to call the part, so I don't know how to search for it. It's an odd brand mower, too (Sycamore), so not easy to find info on.

Any thoughts on
a) how to search/source this part (i.e what the heck is it called?), or
b) a suitable replacement (any other way to attach a blade to an output shaft?)
would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.

After doing a little more research, it seems that the Sycamore mower was made by Falls Products Company at Genoa, Illinois. They also made mowers with several different brand names such as Falls and Roto-Clipper. From what I have been able to read, it seems the Sycamore brand was sold at K-Mart In the mid to late 80’s. I’m guessing you have a 19” deck, which will make the blade length between 18.625” & 18.875”.
The broken part you have is called a blade adapter, but I’m sorry I can not find any adapters out there which look like yours. Best thing I can recommend is you measure your crankshaft diameter and then go to a good repair shop with the broken part, blade and measurement. They should be able to find you an adapter and blade which will work for you. Good luck in your search.

Just to comment on that part. Someone must of hit an aircraft carrier anchor chain in the yard to tear that up like it is. Those older machines were made to last. Now if that adapter was on a new'ish Toro Recycler I could see how LOL. That little guy is jacked up on the top and bottom sides. Someone got their moneys worth out of that part.

Good luck on the search.
