Briggs 550e and ex series engines

I was wondering if Briggs and Stratton newer ohv ex and e series engines are any good? I haven't heard much of anything said about them and was just kinda curious.

I have a EX engine on a lawnmower that works real well but it is not overhead valve. I see a couple of the overhead valve types running in the neighborhood and they do run well and have good power.

You must have the standard 550 series which is L head. The E and EX engines are OHV.


afoulk: The 550E and EX are pretty new in our market (South Africa) so it is hard to talk about longevity, but have sold loads of them and so far no issues.
