I hear the new ones don't come with break in oil but regular oil, and there is nothing in my manual about an early oil change, just the yearly or 50 hrs. Any thought? Thx.
Without thought I always advise my customers to get a full service done after the first couple of mows.
Better to pick up some thing like a loose rocker stud then than at 200 hours when the pushrod flicks off and vanishes into the crankcase.
A quart of oil,a filter & rocker gasket are not expensive items over the life expectency of the mower but may add substantially to it.
Thx. I called half a dozen J.D. service people and each one gave me a different answer, very discouraging. I think Ill just change it out at 8 hours, like my old D100 to be on the safe side.

My JD manual says 50 hours but when I read the service guidelines that Kawasaki recommends for their mower engines I changed it at the 8 hours that they recommend.
