Bosch 340 ER

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone can help but I think I might have just burnt out my motor on my Bosch 340ER.

Just been out doing my first cut and although I took it slow and kept clearing, the motor was noisy then starting winding down to the point it's now not doing anything.

Any thoughts of whether it can be resurrected or am I off to the shop.

Many thanks

I hate to say this but after doing a little research on this unit I recommend cutting your losses and replacing the unit. Cost of repairing will be more than the unit is worth. Most repair shops won’t even touch them as they are considered a throwaway unit.

Thanks and that's what I'm thinking and been meaning to replace it for some time as my dad always used it for his work and he's being retired almost 10 years, but meaning to replace and having to and 2 different things.

I have found some used motors on eBay for £20ish but not if I'd trust them or myself fitting it.

Any suggestions on a replacement, was thinking the newer 34r. I did have cheap little Qualcast which my dad now has but it only has 3 height settings that annoyed me. I've only got a small back lawn that might be going and slightly bigger front

As I’m in the the USA and looks like you’re in the UK, I’m not really able to give you a recommendation on a replacement. I’m not a fan of the electric mowers so the best I can tell you is to do a lot of research and test units before hand if possible. Over here most electric mowers are considered throwaways, as the cost of any repairs, including replacing batteries, puts them in a small purchasing market.
