I have a Dixon 54", around the wash port and other places on the top of the deck the paint is chipping away and rusting (the mower is only 4 years old) I was thinking about either putting a rust solveant and buying some blue paint similar to Dixon blue or if they sell actual Dixon original blue paint. My other choice was to use a grinder with a wire brush and get the rust off like that then paint it blue. Does anybody recommend something else? Or which ones the best

Which ever way you use, the important thing is to get the rust off and then to protect the metal with paint. I am sure you can find a close color match. Every fall I check my John Deere rider for chips and rust, I just sand them out with 400 paper and spot paint as needed, you can't tell where the problem was. :thumbsup:

red oxide primer works well i always use it on metal where its rusted
A product called POR 15 also works well for stopping or slowing down rust battles. Read the directions carefully and follow them on the can. You'll need to remove any trace of that stuff on the lip of the can before you close the can, or you won't be able to reopen the can..:ashamed:

My grandfathers lawnmower had surface rust all over it. him and i took the thing off, sanded it off (top and bottom) and bought a can of black bed liner. it works great! that was about 5 years ago and it looks the same as when we put the deck back on!:thumbsup:
