Welcome to the site. Dirt build up dust grass etc under the shroud and around the cooling fins of the head can be your cause of the extra heat. How old is your bad boy unit. If it has two tanks check for fuel flow from each tank out from the fuel filter one at a time. Then remove the fuel filter and look at the fuel line there is plastic shielding in the replace fuel line and recheck fuel flow after replacing. The plastic breaks down and blocks the fuel from flowing like it should at times but not always. Might also have a lean fuel condition in the carb that might be causing your extra heat as well.
