Hey all, I have Craftsman mower with the briggs and Stratton engine model# 143016000. It starts easy on first pull, however, it runs a bit rough for the first 4 minutes until it gets hot. I purchased this machine from Craigslist for 25 bucks, trying to turn it around for some hefty profit. The owner said he washed it and then it quit running, thinking it was a simple carb flush and clean.
Actions: I purchased a new carb for $15 on eBay since the old one was nasty and easier and cheaper to just purchase a new one. I also purchased a Champion EZ start plug, air filter, changed the oil and added fresh fuel. Unfortunately no ethanol free gas stations in the Austin area. As it turns out, the magneto was defective, so I ordered a new magneto and installed it with .008 gap, between the recommended .006 - .010. No change to symptoms. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Either the model number your listed is incorrect or you don't know what you are working on. the 143 number is Tecumseh not Briggs. And the air gap is .0125 for the ignition module on the Tecumseh engine.

Have you tried adding a little choke when it first starts? Sounds to me like it is just a lean run problem.
