I kept working on this throughout the day, a little bit at a time. I was reading through other posts and threads related to governor problems, no not Gray Davis or the Gropenator. I mean with the linkage, tang position, spring orientation and proper hole. On top of that I have a little trouble understanding how the governor works, but suffice it to say I found this:
Adjusting the Governor | Mower Maintenance | Briggs & Stratton FAQ
and boy was it awesome! I had the governor arm at the far wrong end of adjustment. The motor just purrs now. But, alas, it still quits after about 20-40 seconds.
So, everything else eliminated, I guess I'm taking the carb apart. Can anyone point me to an excellent, brief video?
