I have a ariens 5hp. One of the older solid machines. My gears won't kick in. Right now the machine is stuck in neutral. The lever on the left hand side is also stuck. I opened up the bottom pan and oiled it all up.. Not sure how this system works.. Any one have any idea on how to unloosen the gears..

Its been since last winter that I worked on a Ariens snowblower. As I recall there are adjustments to the levers? Other then that just make sure all the linkage is free and not rusted. Also the axle bushings ten to wear out on them and need replacement

This usually happens to mine moving it around usually loosens it up enough to get into first gear then I keep using it fixes the issue
