I have a Powr Kraft 18 / 42 mower that I know is an MTD made mower for Montgomery Wards, probably 1980s'. Every time I need parts for it, I am asked for a model number, etc. The tags from the mower itself were gone long before I bought this mower. The motor is a Briggs 18 hp.

Does anyone know the model number or an MTD equivalent for this mower that I can use?
Start by posting the actual engine numbers.
They will be stamped into the rocker cover or engine cowl near the head.
The serial number will have a date code, from that we can establish the exact year and from that get a model number good enough to order parts with.
fmitcheltx, I am going to utilize the model # for craftsman on the left of your post. I was on the phone 43 min and finally determined the engine is 1988 so probably '89 or possibly '90. My tractor is identical to your photo. Thank you for posting the pic.
