brief history. kohler cv22, 23 horse on a zero turn. 160 comp in one cyl 50 in the other. tear apart and found burnt exhaust valve. replace and lap in, start up and ran on one cyl. swap coils from side to side and found the bad coil. replace coil start up and mower ran awesome all the power in the world for about an hour, then we had some spitting and sputtering and was fine then all of a sudden it died. choked and restarted was ok for a few then lost power let it settle out and ran good again. fresh fuel, plugs, oil, air filter, fuel filter, oil filter. shes in decent shape and i think its a carb problem honsetly. are these carbs prone to messing up. is it worth it to tear it apart and clean or should i look else where for another issue. if i had 1200 bucks id just replace the motor but i dont so i have to keep on chasing the problems as they arise.
thanks guys for any input

Clean the carburetor, insure that the float is set right... (Lean fuel mix will burn valves)...
Carb kit is cheap, so do a proper job.
Check the compression again and you should have a good running ZT mower... :smile:KennyV

if carb rebuild doesnt work the burnt valve is a red flag. the valve guide could be damaged causing loss of steady compression. might have to replace that head assy

the head with the burnt valve has about 130 lbs of compression. the other side has 160 psi of compression. honestly i think 160 is high and that the 130 is normal. i didnt feel like messing with it today so i'm off tomorrow and will play then. if it annoys me enough i may tear the whole thing apart and rebuild it all, 2 new heads, rings, carb, and 1 more coil assy. cheaper the a new one. or if someone on here is in the pa area and wants to try and rebuild it.
