Lots of the ones I am finding don't give a very good description of shaft sizes and such.

Never easy changing engines of different brands but you need to make a template of the base of your original engine and chrck the height of the shaft to match your old engine.
Plan ahead and it will save you a lot of heart ache.
The John Deere engine is a Briggs engine with JD badges.
JD has a strange charging system so I will have to swap it out. Everything else is the same (fuel system, exhaust ports, ect). The only thing different so far is the shaft length. Having a hard time finding a used engine with the long shaft (3.19" I think).
