Hi, I have a1968 Huffy Broadlawn Ridding Lawn Mower. Back in 1990 I put a new B&S 6hpmotor on it. It had a 3 speed gearbox in great condition,so I changed the oil and put a new chain on it. I put a mulching blade on it and 2 new fanbelts. Gave it some new paint and still cut grass with it today.
I know a lot of people take these old Huffys and make racers out of them. I can see why that 3rd gear gets it moving pretty fast. If you change the chain sprocket coming out of the transmission to a larger size and messed with the carb
You could really get some speed out of it, but 1st gear would be to fast and it might not cut grass to good.
You have to be careful with popping the clutch in 3rd gear, because you can pull the front wheels off the ground. I know you can. Flip it up and over. If you are not carefully. I guess that is why they are a lot of fun. Well temptation as it is I choose to keep it a mower and when I have a grandson I will give it to him so that he can have fun with it as I did when I was 12yrs old. Keep on ridding!

Those were some of my favorite mowers. I know where a Turfmaster is but it's buried deep in an old garage. The Turfmaster was the same thing as the Huffy only it was painted green instead of blue. The Turfmaster in the garage is a model 2828E. It's got a 7hp B&S with a 110v starter. And yes we used to see who could do the longest wheelie in the shop on those Huffy's! Thanks!!!
