Hi ya'll from downunder in Australia ... or maybe g'day would be more appropriate! (y)

I have a walk behind two speed slasher ... a 'Deutscher' 22" cut made here in Oz and I've had it for 25 years. It came with a (now very tired) 5hp side valve Briggs and Stratton engine. It's an ugly old thing but the rest of it (aside from the Briggs)) still has a fair bit of life left in it so I have decided to put a new engine in it as it is by far the most efficient mowing device I have ever owned. An engine supplier here in Oz can supply me a replacement bolt on Briggs and Stratton in either 6hp or 6.75hp ... both OHV of course. The extra oomph would be great because the thing was always under powered in my opinion from the day I bought it new in the mid nineties. Looking at the specs of the engines the 6hp has a cast iron cylinder liner but the 6.75hp is stated as having an aluminium cylinder ... the extra power and torque of the 6.75 appeals to me but I'm dubious about the aluminium bore even though I know Briiggs have used them previously. Opinions? ( and thanks in advance) :)

Stay away from the alloy bore they are cheap trash made for the cheap trash mower that you find in Bunnings, Mitre 10, Harvey Norman etc
Most of the Deutschers I have worked on had a 190 Honda engine in them
When you re paying the extra for a high quality mower the extra $ 300 was not a problem.
Lots of the tool stores sell rebadged Loncins & Ducars which would be my choice
The current series of B & S engines are really rubbish and you will spend more time reparing than mowing
I have put a Power Torque on one & the owner is very happy apart from the extra fuel consumption.
Had to cut a hole in the deck for the exhaust .
The 0.75 Hp is not as much as it sounds when you look at the torque curves and it is the torque that is doing the work, not the HP .
