Yeah, my neighbor said urine is good for bermuda grass. He even went to the extent of describing to me how to dilute it and so on and so forth. Honestly, I'd rather not explore it.

But just for the sake of curiosity, can there be something in urine that's good for bermuda grass?

:confused2:

I am not sure about how urine works with bermuda grass. However, my mom used to dilute our previous night's urine with water to water her plants. In my observation, mom's flowers are healthy. Use only previous night's urine though, as it will smell bad if used the following day.

Interesting! So it has some value indeed.

My neighbor said urine was free urea. He actually emphasized that urine and urea had the same root word. I didn't bother to check. But granting what he said was true, then indeed diluted urine would be good for bermuda grass. It's the smell that makes me shrink at the thought. But here you're saying there's a way around that.

Interesting indeed.

Interesting thread. At first I could not believe it. So I searched it out in Wikipedia.

It says, "The fertilization effect of urine has been found to be comparable to that of commercial fertilizers with an equivalent NPK rating."

Amazing, huh? I can imagine people getting uncomfortable, thinking about urine. But maybe people will find that ok later.

Every once in awhile, I catch my husband in the act of "watering the flowers" out behind the wood shed. I can't wait to tell him about this........! I can hear him already----("Told ya so!)

Hi Hariett! :thumbsup::laughing:

I think you can send your story to the Reader's Digest's "Life's Like That" section. I just have a hunch you'd get a $100 for it :)

I don't know about the Human variety, but cat pee kills my grass! It's easy to see where the cats go because they leave behind little areas of brown, dead grass. It also corrodes aluminum! Bad stuff!

I could have told you this. We have 56 acres of secluded property, so my three sons and I often "water" our lawn. Our favorite spots have always been much more lush and green. :wink:

Uhummm! Now it all makes sense. It's no wonder now why they have to dilute urine with water before dumping the liquid "solution" into the grass. At first I thought they dilute it to lessen the smell.
