First time poster....hope you guys can help me. I have a Craftsman garden tractor, model 917.273061, and I haven't been able to find a muffler for it anywhere! Muffler p/n 161063 is obsolete/no longer available anywhere. It might show up on parts suppliers websites but when you check it is no longer available. I'm sure there must be some type of substitute muffler available somewhere, I just haven't found it. Tractor's in good condition otherwise, just needs a muffler. It's a side mount muffler for a Kohler twin 20 hp engine (CV20S-65551)..........any ideas? Thought about just taking what's left to a muffler shop to see if they could fabricate one.
you dont necessarily need the stock muffler. you might be able to find one similar and go with that. also, you can try going to a junk yard, scrap yard, and see if you can find something there. and did you check ebay? they usually have something.
