60 SD Kaw: Oil Fills Very Slowly.

Hi,

Changed oil a few days ago, and when filling it back up, it would only take oil very slowly. If I didn't pour it in very slowly, it would run out of the filler neck. I swapped funnels to a smaller one with a 3/8" diameter neck and that was no fun. It took a long time to fill it, still had to pour a bit slow. I don't remember it taking oil that slowly last fall, so something may have changed. Has anyone noticed this, or have any ideas on why? The dip stick goes in normally, can't see of feel any obstruction.

Thanks,,,

Bob

Maybe check the crankcase vent. When pouring in the oil it has to displace air through either the filler tube or the vent.

the oil fil hole is very small and you are pouring it into a closed space where the only place for the air to escape is the hole you are pouring the oil into so yes it is painfully slow.

I hold the funnel up a bit for air to escape when filling my Kawasaski
