So i have a 5hp briggs and stratton on a tiller, i recently did a valve job, replaced the head gasket, put on a brand new carburetor, replaced the flywheel key, adjusted the coil gap, new spark plug, new air filter, changed the oil. I got it finished and re-mounted on the tiller, first pull and it started up and ran great except for a high pitch squealing coming from the pull start clutch. So i removed the front cover and the pull start clutch and fine sanded the shaft and wire brushed inside where the shaft goes into the clutch. Re-assembled everything and now it wont start. It acts like it isn't getting spark, yet when i connect a spark tester it is sparking fine. I am at a loss for the cause since it started on one pull prior to cleaning the pull start clutch, and in cleaning that i didn't even touch any other component.
