5 Horse Horazontal Engine Question

ok i know what the first question is going to be to my question but i don't have the numbers right now I'm asking this question for a friend you guys know the 5 horse brigs engines everyone uses on go karts to make racing engines out of well my brother has one or his son does its just a yard kart but has the same engine and it won't start cold unless you put starting fluid in it then it starts and runs just fine and will restart unless you let it cool down i have took the carb part and cleaned it out and it still does the same thing no matter how much you choke it the thing won't start unless you put starting fluid in it and when its trying to start it pops in the exhaust kinda sounds like a valve but it runs so good when running please if someone knows the answer let me know thanks in advance

Have you checked the plug after chocking and trying to start? Is it wet? Have you tried to block the air horn with your hand at starting? I think you will find that the plug will come out dry. This means you either have an air leak or a low speed sticking valve.

i havent checked the plug but i have held my hand over the air horn and still no start i used all new gaskets when i put it back together so ill try and look art the plug its very possible the low idle have is stuck not sure which one it is but ill take it back apart later this week
