I have a 2010 42" Pony riding mower with a stuck Idler Arm Bracket. Bear with me here, I will start at the beginning. I bought the mower with a bad engine and swapped in an 18hp Kohler. It has been mowing great for 2 years. It never has completely disengaged the blades when the PTO handle is pulled back. This year, the blades stopped engaging when the mowing height was lowered. Finally, the blades would engage but when it hit the grass the blades would stop turning. It basically felt like the deck belt had stretched and was not holding the tension on the spindles. The spindles are fine because you could turn the blades by hand just fine even if the PTO handle was engaged. I pulled the deck off and found the Idler bracket does not pivot freely moving it by hand. I found the left blade brake stuck as well. I was able to clean it up and lubricate it and it is now working again. Now I am down to the Idler Arm Bracket "stuck". I pulled it off, cleaned it up, and lubricated it but it will not pivot if it is tightened up. According to the parts breakdown there is a washer between the Bracket and the deck. Mine was missing so I replaced it. It did not help. I left the bolt just tight enough to allow the bracket to pivot. I am almost finished reassembling everything but feel the vibration will back the nut completely off at some point. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it? Thank you!
