33" Rear Engine Rider won't roll.

While in use, my Rear Engine Snapper stopped and would not roll. I stood it up and the rear tires will spin in opposite directions but when the mower is on the ground the two rear tires will not roll in the same direction. Had to lift rear end with hand trucks to get it back to the shed. Any help with what to do is greatly appreciated.

It's locked in gear, check that you shift lever is working.

Ron,

Just went through the same thing.

Put it up on end and check your gear lube in both differentials.

There are plastic plugs.

If you need a link to a manual i can get it for you.

Meant to add, after you add the lube, work the wheels around to spin the lube around.

I then used a wrench on the large center bolt of the drive wheel to make it move.

It was tight at first, but eased up after some wrenching.

Every once in awhile try rolling both wheels in the forward direction.

I have the exact same mower, this was the first issue in 10 years of ownership.

But I have to admit, I didn't even think about lubing it there. :ashamed:

Greased and serviced everything else....

Chances are the chain has jumped off the sprockets in the rear differential. This has happened a couple of time with an older 30" Comet I have. Requires disassembly to get it back on.
