Hi,

Great forums and good to meet you guys!

Just need a bit of friendly advice, I now have 2.5 acres of grass that needs cutting, I was debating on a sit on mower, but, I have many trees to avoid, and, prepared to put in a little effort/fun.

Would mowing 2.5 acres with a machine such as McCulloch M53-160DW High Wheel Power Drive Lawn Mower Honda Powered

be impossible? I don't mine a good 1/2 days work - I am fit. - ish.

What do you all think?

Any mower will cut 2.5 acres ready to sweat? Lots of trees I would consider a small ztr mower save your self and time and back ache

If you don't mind walking and are like me, who could use a weekly workout, I would take a look at the 30" Toro TimeMaster.

As I recall back in the earlier years that is how we mowed lawns. 40s, 50s, . The lawns were smaller back then also.

They weren't smaller. We just had people doing it for us

I just never have anyone doing anything for me now or then. I was not born independently rich. I was the people doing it for us and still am.

I would have to agree with a small Zero turn Mower recommendation for a few reasons.
1. I like cutting my grass all in the same day so it is all the same level. Sometimes Weather would move in and not let me get it all done in the same day or something else in life would just interrupt.
2. Zero turn mowers are great around trees as I have many like you.
3. Zero turn mowers are just fun. They make cutting the grass with trees easy.
I just got my first Zero Turn Mower and must say like many others have said before me, once you get one you never go back to what you were using before.
Good luck!
I almost forgot woody2000 I am 41 years old still young I think but I also am not getting any younger. This was also a reason in my decision to buy a zero turn mower. I didn't want to spend money on a machine whether a few hundred or a few thousand dollars that I didn't want to use a few years later down the road. I wanted something that might last another 15 years or more and that I would want to still use 15 years down the road. As I get older my time seems more valuable. Also I just didn't want to spend half my days off cutting grass even though I love to do it, I just have other things I have to do in the same day. Hope this helps again Take care and again good luck!!

I"d have to go along with Rivets if you don't mind the workout and look at the 30" Toro but with 2.5acres I'd spend a little more money and get the commercial 30" Turf-master. The first reason would be the fact the Turf -master has a 1 gal gas tank vs the time-master 1.2Qt it also runs the Kawaski engine instead of the B&S. The times savings on either would be substantial comparing it to the 21" in your link. Just my :2cents:

I personally would, and did, choose the zero-turn option mainly because you will more likely be able to mow your yard if you are sick or injured. There are times when you feel like pooh but can still sit on a mower for an hour or two but the thought of walking behind, even a self-propelled, mower would be a nightmare.

And then there's injury, a twisted knee, a sprained ankle, etc.. I personally broke my kneecap in half in a head-on collision 2 years ago and am oh so thankful that I could swing my full leg brace onto the mower and get 'er done.

That's just me of course. I'm 58 year old now and as you can tell, relish riding. Then, if I'm healthy, I have time to exercise.

Good luck in your decision, I'm sure you will make the right choice for you and your particular lifestyle. Let us know what you get.

Are there any zero-turn options that are close to the price of a Toro Timemaster or Turfmaster.
