Bought a new 2014 Kubota ZG 121s last weekend, Yes it's a zg121s not a zg123s but its the some as last year's model but the stickers reflect the 1 series and the 21 hp rating of the Kohler motor, The seat with its high back is very comfortable and suspension makes it awesome, It's A Very Smooth ride As My Ground Is Pretty Rough, Those Who Are Afraid Of The Low profile tires need not be, My brother in law has the john deere Eztrak 445 that I have used and there is no comparison in engineering the Kubota is just thought out better it's more commercial then a residential mower, I have had it in my shop for 2 days trying to think of things to add, I was going to add hinges to the Rops but I don't see the fix position as an issue for me, its a little over 5' in height, but I did add a 2"x2"x1"angle iron hinge prop for the grass deflector so it can be pulled in and out of the barn door, and added grease zirk's to anti scalp wheels so they should last forever, here some pic's

Congrats! I'm sure you'll love it. Got mine in June of last year but still haven't pulled it out of storage yet from the winter.

I like your mods--might have to add the zerk fittings.

I'm currently looking at the zg 121s. Like the looks and the price. What is the difference in the 121's and the 123, 124's, etc? Is it just hp? If so, is the 21 hp adequate? Trying to decide between the 121, the Hustler Raptor SD, and the JD z425 (all 48"). Thanks.

Hey kommander!

I just went through this myself. The difference between the 121S,122E, 123S and 124E is this:

121S has the Kohler Confidant 21 horse motor, suspension seat and LED lights. 2014 year model.
122E has the B&S 22 horse motor, no lights and no suspension seat. 2014 year model.
123S has the Kohler Courage 23 horse motor, suspension seat and LED lights. 2013 year model.
124E has the B&S Pro 24 horse motor, no lights and no suspension seat. 2013 year model.

The way the horsepower was rated was changed for 2014 resulting in a lower rating than in 2013. Other than the difference listed above I don't know of any other differences in the mower.

I have the 121S and it has plenty of power for mowing. I am very happy with the mower.

That is exactly the info I've been looking for. Thank you for sharing your research! Not sure what the Kohler Confidant is, but the fact that it's not the Courage takes care of all of the specific issues with that engine. I'll do some digging on that one, but good to know you're happy with your purchase.

From what I found on the Kohler Confidant, it is used on a few other mowers such as Exmark, MTD and the Kubota. If you go to the Kohler engine page and look at the ZT720 you can get more info. It is listed as a commercial and pro grade home owner motor.

My pleasure!

E-mailed Koehler this morning. The ZT engine is made in Mississippi.

Thanks to all for the input. Based on my screen name I was set on the Kobota Kommander. When all was said and done I decided that was overkill for just over 1/2 acre to mow. I finally pulled the trigger on the Gravely ZT 42 with the 21.5 Kawasaki. I love it! My expectations of the ZT experience were very high, but those expectations have been far exceeded. Loved my 28" Snapper rider, but mow time went from over an hour to just under 30 minutes.....and I look forward to it. I highly recommend the zero turn experience to all!!!

Earlier this week I was planning on going with the Raptor SD 54". It seemed the best bang for the buck. Today at lunch my wife and I went to look at the Kubota's and happy to say my Z121S is on the truck to be delivered in the next hour. It seems to be a much better built machine and considering it comes with the led lights, suspension seat and rear hitch that really sold it for me. Those were all things I was going to add to the RSD. Can't wait to get home and take it for a spin....

Awesome, congrats! Love mine--just watch that ROPS on low branches.

We had ours since September. The Z121S mows great, has the best ride we found on any other ZTR, and there is plenty of power. We replaced a older BX 2200 with over 2000 hours on it. I know you will enjoy your Gravely.
