2009 grasshopper 725DT6

Its my 4th year mowing i do about 30-40 hrs of mowing a week and plan on picking up more accounts. i have a 95 woods front deck looks exactly like a grasshopper but performs nothing like a grasshopper, constant problems even with a new engine. i have the chance to buy a 2009 grasshopper 725DT6 for less then $4,000. it has a little less then 1800 hrs and i am worried that if i buy it the first thing to happen is the hydros going out.

Basically I didn't know if i should be worried, just take the deal, or just let it go.

and also what is the difference between 725D and the 725DT6

I haven't been around the T6 transmission but the way I understand it is a newer technology that matches the pump with the motors while giving better cooling thus longer life plus extended maintenance cycles.

This is how it is advertised:
T6 hydrostatic transmission with tandem 16cc Parker Hannifin pumps-in-reservoir, in-line CoolFan for cooling efficiency and long service intervals, design-matched Parker high-torque wheel motors.

I am with you on the hours, could be expensive if regular service was not followed. It would appear that the number of hours vs. the age of the unit would suggest a lawn service or municipal that owned it most likely ran it 30 to 40 hours per week during the season?

Are there any service records or do you know who was the previous owner? Does it look well maintained? In my opinion you can tell a lot about a unit by its appearance. Also I would talk to a reputable dealer and find out the track record of the T6 transmission in regard to hours.

It is a great price, would be hard to turn down!

Thanks a lot. My plan was to take it into a dealer and have them go through everything to make sure there are no major problems. Do you think that is worth $150. I feel like I'm going a little overboard but I got screwed and over paid for my woods so I want to have no regrets this time.

I think the dealer evaluation of the unit would be worth the money. Even though your getting a great deal on the 725 a major problem could turn that around.

I would like to find a 725D myself but nothing has come up in my area, does yours have power fold? Power fold is what I would like to have mine is manual fold, its not too bad but is somewhat heavy.

BWH No power fold, it would be nice though. I actually just bought it today for 3600. the guy bought it last year from a dealer and only put less than 30hrs on it. he saved there community center $3,000 but he was the only one that new how to use it and it was to fast. the dealer said nothing looked/sounded to be wrong and that if i didn't buy it they were. They are really hard to find, i looked all over the internet for a used one similar to this to compare prices and it was nearly impossible, i think i found 3 total out of the tons of websites i looked through.

Here my new mower. to bad the snow is sticking around in N-W Ohio so no mowing for another month or so

Now that's a deal!

I am envious of that deal Like I say the 725D will be my next mower, the thing is Grasshoppers are a big seller around these parts especially with the commercial contractors. I'm sure I would not be able to even come close to matching that deal.
