I replaced the engine on my MTD 1448 Pro mower with a pull start 17.5 B&S engine that came with equipped with a carb solenoid, info states alternator current is not regulated and will over charge a battery. does pull starting provide enough current if connected to the lighting output connector to open selanoid or must it be removed for manual start?

Remove the solenoid and replace it with a bowl bolt.
Chances are the one off the old carb will fit the new one because they never changed the thread size.
