10515 Three Speed Transmission Problems

My 10515 three speed "transmission" just started acting up.
In 3, it kind of chatters, and does not really drive the wheels.
When trying to shift it to 2, it kind of grabs, and I have to force it to 2.
Seems to work fine in 2 and 1, but I really need the mower to work in the 3 "Highest speed" with my yard.
Looked everywhere for any info on what might be wrong, and or how to fix it.
I see there are gears available, but kind of relatively expensive, for an older mower.
This is a 4 group serial number machine, but it kind of looks like the 3 speed tranny is used on multiple serial number 10515's.
Anyone have any info on how to fix this, and is it and "easy" fix?
Thanks for any help....

Sounds to me like your pinion and drive gear are worn, plus the shift keys. Not that hard to replace p, depending on your mechanical experience. If you decide to tacket the job yourself, I recommend that you replace the bearing also. Here is a parts breakdown. You will have to tear apart the tranny before ordering parts to determine which gears you will need. https://lookup3.toro.com/classes/doGetPub/?pubid=4414

Rivets' link does not seem to work...if not, try this:

Serial number is not necessary.
Just enter model number and click search and take it from there.
