LT1040 or LTX1040?
however on most mowers, the left pedal is for the brake, also there is sometimes a rod or handle you can pull while holding the pedal down that will make it stay down so you can get off your mower and leave it running.

Must be a LTX1040 as the LT1040 don't have any pedals on the left side.
