Koehler command 27 hp making noise

I recently replaced both ignition modules and spark plugs on my CH 740-0054 Kohler engine. After reassembling, I started motor and have a loud ‘whining’ noise. I removed the screen guard, rotated the crankshaft and checked the plastic fan to see if it was binding. All looks ok.
Any thoughts on what the noise could be?
Thanks, mike

Maybe your belt? Just throwing out ideas.

A process of elimination would be the go.
Start by running the engine for a few minutes without the blower housing in place
You can run it for quite a long while without the housing without doing any damage to the engine, it is not like running your car without water.

So give it a spin and listen carefully
Whine goes away then you were right first up and something is rubbing.

Whine remains then have a listen through a tube ( core of a towel roll is good ) to see if you can isolate where it is coming from.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve ruled out the belt. Disconnecting the housing and fan sounds like a good idea to either pinpoint or rule out that part of it. Seems like noise is more electrical then mechanical.
