model number 09p702-003-F1
when you crank it, top lifter jumps off push rod and valve spring.550 OHV Briggs and Stratton motor. any suggestions.?:anyone::anyone::anyone:

Either valves are not set properly or a valve guide has moved. We need to know the exact model numbers from the engine. The numbers you posted make our helping you more difficult.

09p702-003-F1
It is so rare that they post the model number we sometimes miss it when they do.

Thanks Blaznt. Rivets with having the Model number now , what are your thoughts.? mower was built in 2012 but the outside appearance tells me its been garage kept and maintained.

First that is not a complete model number, the code should have 4 digits. Second as I said you need to check the valve clearance and if it is correct then look at the valve guides. The one that keeps loosing the rod may have moved, allowing the rocker arm to come in contact with the guide.

what should valve clearance be? any help is very appreciated.
If you have a picture of what your speaking as far as the guide i'd really appreciate it.

Rivet,
one more question. Is there an adjustment on the rocker arm where I might be able to tighten it just a bit so it won't jump off.?
