My 12.5 hp B&S model 281707 type 0411 01 is all sorts of messed up , still runs but want to replace it with a B&S model 284h77 type 0125 e2 but i can find no info actual dimensions or just an ez answer on if it would be a good replacement , seems they cant be bothered to archive their engines manuals at briggs and Stratton site or any info on earlier models , any info on either model would be greatly appreciated

Recheck numbers on replacement engine, I entered numbers and nothing, when page comes up blank numbers & letters are incorrect.

Well I found the replacement engine but not the 281707. Assuming the 281707 is a flathead, the replacement is an OHV and will have the same mounting holes and shaft size. The electrical system may be different but interchangeable. The engine will be the same size except a little longer for the OHV, forget the actual dimensions. I think there is at least one site on line showing the actual dimensions. Perhaps Tulsa Engine Warehouse.
