Different grasses, I know, need to be cut to different heights Cool season grasse Ryegrass I have read is best cut to 2.5 inches. However, just now I read you should cut it to 3 inches. Does anyone have any thought on this? Suggestions for other types of grasses would, I'm sure help my fellow forum members

It depends a lot of the type of grass you have and the climate you live in. In an arid climate 3" is about the right height. In a more humid climate where you get a fair amount of rain usually 2" will suffice. Also, the hardier the grass type, the shorter it can be mowed as it won't burn up and brown as quickly.

Mowing height varies by grass variety and time of year. Generally speaking, however, the cool season grasses can be a bit shorter than the warm season ones, and you can start shorter early in the season, but mow it longer later in the season to help it survive heat and dormancy.
