I have a B48G onan that hunts at low rpm. I noticed the idle & intermediate fuel passage has no welch plug. I don't see one on the John Deere parts list. Would this have anything to do with the hunting at low rpm?

I have a 345 that leaks fluid around the shift rod, may also be called hydro control. It appears the case will need to be split to replace the seal/packing. If we open the case will parts fly out? We have pretty good mechanic skills, is this something we may be able to do ourselves...
