Not the plastic deck, the engine. I found the broken deck during the cleaning and draining the fluids from the engine. Not at all related to the flood, just coincidence.

Mower was running fine, did an initial hose off and drained gas tank through bowl. Sat in sun for a while will do oil tomorrow. I suspect it will be fine.

Sounds like the governor arm is not set correctly. These are a bit tricky to get just right, I am sure there are YouTube video's on it.
