Turns out it was in fact seized and has a crack in the crankcase. RIP

We haven't cracked it open yet, but it appears it may be time for some exploratory surgery to find out exactly what is going on!

so what your saying is might not actually be a typical bearing? its just the oil seal? those short blocks are expensive. I was looking at the service manual(online) and it mentioned if the main bearing is out of spec to replace the crankcase(at least thats what i got from reading it...
