    Used oil

I generate a lot of used oil. Our county dump has a used oil recycling station that will take it. I have several old tractors that we play with. They hold a lot of motor oil. I generate about 10 or 15 gallons per year between the tractors, cars and trucks. I assume the dump (land fill) sells it...

    Gas can nozzle gasket!

I have given up on the poly can's. I only use Eagle brand safety cans. I just noticed that they are getting pricey. Made in America! Got to love it! Eagle UI-50-FSG Type I Metal Safety Can with F-15 Funnel

    Mower blades not turning

I have a mower that will not engage the PTO Clutch when it is hot. Engage the clutch cold and it will work fine. But, don't turn it off because you will not get it to reengage again till she cools down for several hours.

Hydro-gear transmission filter difficulties and lesson learned.

My older Cub Cadet model 2184, has a Hydro-Gear hydraulic transmission part number 618-3231. I believe it is Hydro-Gear model 13A-224F100. I recently decided, after many years, it was time to change the transmission fluid and filter. The genuine Hydro-Gear or Cub Cadet filters were expensive, so...

    change hydro oil

Coincidently I am about to change the transmission oil in my ZTR also. They are Hydro Gear ZT2800 also. They do have filters. That is where you drain them. There is a vent plug at the top that you need to remove. It is a good idea to let them purge the air out slowly overnight. Run them slowly...

    Let's talk about blade sharpening?

I agree with everything said here except I use a cone type balancer. I clean my blades by soaking them in warm water to loosen the material then take a wire wheel to them. It seems easer.

    Deck Design ??

I can tell you from experience that removing the baffles results in a poor cut. I bought a nice older Cub Cadet that had the baffles removed. It would cut, but the grass never looked good. I fabricated new baffles and installed them. It now cuts good.

    Repairs MTD Belt Failure

I have a Cub Cadet Model 2186 built by MTD. I have been experiencing pre-mature belt failure of the PTO belt that drives the mower deck. I have been using genuine MTD belts. I have lost 4 if them already this summer. The off-brand belts seem to last longer, but they still fail after about 6...

    Engine Slow to start

My new Husqvarna with a Briggs engine is slow to start after it has sat for a while. I assume this is because all the gas has evaporated out of the carb and it takes a while for the fuel pump to send gas to the carb. Has anyone ever tried to install a squeeze bulb fuel primer like they use on...
