    It was the transmission safety switch. When disconnected, it runs and operates like it did before the switch failed. Connect the switch and it begins to sputter and die if you engage the handles too much. It's shorting out the engine. So I guess I have to run it disconnected with the leads...

    If it were a carb issue, it wouldn't be running as strong as it does even when you engage the blades. I'm starting to lean more toward a safety switch issue. I just have to research where they are all located. Thanks.
