cleaned all fuel lines ,put fuel pump back on , shot with either it started an runs fine didn't find anything plugged up guess i have a demen in my motor

have a kohler sv725 on my mower it won't pump fuel i have checked all lines and filter trying figure out how fuel pump works the vac hose out of the valve cover has no vacume or presser when turning over engine any help would be much apprecieated
