The oil was drained from the engine before I took the head off. Oil has seeped past the cylinder as it sat.

The engine has sat overnight with the head off and today a pool of oil is in the bottom of the horizontal cylinder which can only be piston, piston rings or cylinder. Will it be enough to just replace the piston rings?

The piston in my lawnmower is not chrome plated. The head of the poston is not marked or cracked. I cannot feel any lip in the cylinder wall. I will remove the piston and check it and the priston rings. Is it worth fixing if it is the cylinder that is the problem?
