Stihl MS 250 Chain Saw Problems

Stihl recommends because it needs it or is that just corporate covering their ass documentation??? I have worked on hundreds of saws over the years and pretty much all running regular gas and i have never seen a saw with preignition damage.

Stihl MS 250 Chain Saw Problems

I have 5 chainsaws. 2 of which are running high compression and advanced timing. If you try to start them without using the compression release they break starter pawls. I run regular gas in all of them with zero issues. All the internet mechanics quote the Stihl manual but i am still waiting...

    Has Stens gone stupid?

I was at a NAPA and the young girl store manager didn't know what a tapered roller bearing was and i showed her how to use the digital calipers and the difference between fractions of an inch and decimals in thousandths. Nice person but didn't have a clue about managing an auto parts store.

    Has Stens gone stupid?

While we all want folks on the phone to be like the old guy behind all the books at the local auto parts store it just can't be that way. The stens catalog has many thiusands of parts in it and the only thing a CS rep has access to is a computer and they can't be an expert at every item in their...

    kevlar or rubber deck belt?

Here is an example of aftermarket using the wrong measurement. The stens belt is 107" and should be B110. The belt pic is the one that actually fits. The stens is 3 inches short.

    kevlar or rubber deck belt?

Kevlar generally refers to being wrapped in a kevlar fabric. Wrapped belts are used in clutching applications as they allow some slippage as they engage. Raw edge or unwrapped belts are not designed to be used in clutching applications. Kevlar wrapped belts are more durable than unwrapped belts...

    Husqvarna/Craftsman AWD Blade adapter quandry

I just replaced one of those. The first aftermarket one didn't tighten down properly and the belt didn't line up. The complete end of it broke off after 5 mins of running. That was fun. OEM one worked. Cust supplied the AM one. While you are in there remove the idlers and pop a seal off and oil...

They are both 14 cubic inch briggs. Some were recoil and some starter generator. The yellow one is more complete but is recoil start. The green one has the starter generator. I will probably wind up removing both engines and use the best of each to make a good electric start one

    Prestige 50" Raise Cutting Height

The chains are not attaced to the electric deck lift. They are attaced to the lift mechanism to raise to the transport position. The electric lift motor is connected to the rear roller shaft to raise and lower it to adjust the cut height. I have worked on lots of these simplicity mowers. the...

    Prestige 50" Raise Cutting Height

Incorrect. The simplicity deck is designed for the rear roller shaft to ride on the ground. They are not anti scalp rollers. The chains are attached to the lift arms to raise the deck to the transport position.
  21. Hammermechanicman

    Prestige 50" Raise Cutting Height

If the front deck height is correct and the electric lift is working properly you should get close to 4 inches of cut height. I have seen the lift mechanism on the electric decks bind up and not have full range of travel. The chain trick usually hold the rollers slightly off the ground but it...

    Prestige 50" Raise Cutting Height

Check your chains on the rear of the deck. Go to the second link and you may get the height you want. There is an adjustment for the front height of the deck with a rod at the back of the deck. Shortening the rod raises the front of the deck. Those stupid deck motors die all the time. The old...

Not to be operated by f**kwits

It has a T92 trans like used in Power King tractors. I think the rear end is Peerless and chain drive is #50. Drivetrain is way over built. Some of it looks like something i built in my garage.

    I just put those on

The guy picked up the mower today. I asked about its history. Said he bought it from a guy on a farm who was moving. 3YEARS AGO. Didn't do anything to it for 3 years and figured it might need an oil change by now so he brought it to my shop.

If you wanted to see women freaking out. My son's 5rh grade science project was a process where we took old wheel weights and melted them down and casted fishing jigs. OMG he touched lead! The female teachers lost their crap. The male principal asked if we sold them and wanted to buy some.

A 36 grit flap wheel takes metal off FAST without overheating. I have a Bradley S105 grinder that i don't use any more. Really only works on flat blades and takes way longer than the angle grinder and flap wheel. Blades don't need to be perfectly balanced or razor sharp. Mow with razor sharp...

    Tec AV520 no spark

"I can feel the spark when holding the plug wire and spinning the flywheel by hand" Sounds like the points are slightly out of time with the magnets. Try opening the points gsp a couple thou. If that doesn't help then close a couple thou.
