    John Deere 265 won't start

    Have a 265 with 17hp Kawasaki that will only start on jumper cable. Replaced battery, twice, rebuilt starter no luck. Could it be the electric mower clutch dragging the voltage down?

    John Deere 265 lawn mower

    I have an early 80s JD 265 lawn mower that stalled last week. Have changed battery, twice, spark plug, rebuilt carb but it still won't turn over. When I jump it with the truck starts and runs good, dies when cables removed. Could it be the electric mower drive clutch that is causing this?
